This long-standing defence relationship has deepened over the years as the interactions between the SAF and the Royal Brunei Armed Forces grew in scope and complexity. Singapore and Brunei have enjoyed a close defence relationship since 1976. The visits will be hosted by Chief of Air Force Major-General (MG) Mervyn Tan and Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant-General (LG) Perry Lim respectively. On 11 November 2016, he will visit the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF)'s 126 Squadron, as well as the ongoing Exercise Maju Bersama between the Singapore Army and the Royal Brunei Land Forces (RBLF).
